    how do you prepare flower beds for the winter?

    is it ok to cut the perrenials right back and is there a correct way to do it?

    no just cut back to new growth and leave they will return next year and alswys piu down a marker so you know were they are

    When all the foliage is brown,, remove the foliage. Cover with  at least 2 inches of leaves, pine needles or straw

    As Ann said cut back what is dead then turn over to air the soil and put some manure down and bark if you want to keep the soil warm if not rake in and leave and now is the best time to plant your spring bulbs for spring
