      It is the celebration of living life on this earth without interference from the "Otherworld".  That is why we wear masks,...to masqurade ourselves so we don't get chosen to go to the "Otherside", before our time. Was once very serious,  but now we know better but still practice in fun and in honor of our ancestors.
