Not too worry, the Zoning Officers had to have checked you Deed, to knew where your property lines were.
He had to know, or he could not legally have issued a permit, unless you proposal DID if fact meet the parameters of the Zoning code.
If you proposal had NOT met the parameters of the Zoning code, he would have required you to appear before the "Zoning Hearing Board" to obtain a Variance, before you would be allow to start the project.
