There is no scientific evidence for existence of ghosts. When trying to understand where the idea of ghosts comes from, one can think that it originates from people's fears, for instance when someone hears a sound he doesn't recognize, he might rationalize it as the presence of ghosts. Another option is that it may be a way to deal with a death of a loved one: People may want to believe that a deceased beloved one it steal around them.
