Tectonic plates float on the mantle's superior area.
The mantel is a sphere that is found 1800 miles beneath the earth's crust, it is solid in its center and soft and with liquid character on its upper part, which allow the tectonic plates to float on it.

the plates float on magma and are considered as the earths' crust
