Windows XP users and Windows 7

Right-click an empty spot on your desktop and click "Properties" to launch the display properties console.

Click the "Appearance" tab and click the "Advanced" button to launch the "Advanced Appearance" console.

Select the Windows element for which you wish to change the font. You can select a category such as "Active title bar" or "Icons" to change the default font in these areas.

Select the font type for the category you chose under "Font type." You can choose from different font types, such as Tahoma or Times New Roman. Select the font size and the color.

Click "OK" to save the changes and click "OK" again to close the display properties console.
Windows Vista

Click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel." Click "Appearance and Personalization" and click "Personalization."

Click "Windows Colors and Appearance" and click the "Advanced" button. Select the element of Windows to change the font for in the "Items" list. For example, select "Menu" if you want to change the font for the Windows menu.

Select the font to use in the "Font" list and select the color you want to use. Select the font size you want to use. Repeat these same steps to adjust the font for a different section of Windows. Click "OK" to save the changes once you are done with the customization.
