      if your talking about finger nails i have an answer, its  a anxiety problem or a sign of bordum especialy for people that like to do things with thier hands like if theirs nothing else to do theyll just sit there and chew. plus thier are other strange things people do like sometimes people would pull out thier hair and sometimes eat it or rock in thier chair or one thing thats really common is kick or swing thier legs its totally normal. :) trust me my grandma chews her nails down to the nubs
