    What did Romans use to shave with?

    knife seems a bit crude.

    Crude or not, that's what they used. Very sharp knives.

    Romans shaved with a tool called a         Strigil,      which is a small curved, metal tool.They used Olive Oil, before effective soap became available. It was also used for scraping the skin after bathing.
