How long after having a combound fracture, do you think it will take before I can ride my horse again?

I fell off my horse on Good Friday and broke the larger of the bones and shattered the bottom of the smaller. (Tib and Fib) It was a compound fracture. There are plates and screws holding the bones together now. The doctor said there is some gaps that bone needs to grow back.

The same thing happened to a friend, although he t-boned a garbage truck. Depends on how old you are, but typically 6-12 weeks. It may always be painful to ride again, so don't get your hopes up too fast. Make sure you get a doctor's notice for going through check points at airports.
