Aspirin elevates uric acid level in blood, and high uric acid level in blood in people who have gout tendency, is what triggers gout attacks. Therefore, administration of the over the counter dose (regular dose) of two 325 mg tablets every four hours, in those who have gout tendency, may cause a gout attack. Nevertheless, small aspirin doses, such as 75-81 mg per day (administered for heart attack or stroke prevention) should not alter the uric acid level in the blood.
