    No they can not, birds depend on the resistance (pressures0 of airflow over their wings and lift from under the wings, they depend on resistance from these pressures to maintain direction by using their tail like a rudder of a boat,  Not to mention, no air to breath in space. A bird can only fly 'so high' before they run out of air that keeps them in flight and breathing. A bird in space is a fish out of the water.. 

    Maybe one day they will and take you with them.

    no because the air will get thin
