No, the cold viscosity is 10 weight difference. Both are pretty thick. I had a Harley Davidson that used 105 weight, it wouldn't come out of the can on its own, I had to scoop it out..

I know a guy that lived in the south and he used 50 weight in his truck and when he moved here to cold Ohio,it was'nt a pretty thing to see trying to start his truck,he changed to a lighter weight in a hurry.
That thick stuff helps if you got bad valves and the thin stuff makes it to the combustion chamber. You're right though, cold weather starting is hard to do with that heavy stuff, trade off I guess. i remember when i lived in Ohio, people had heated dipsticks that they remove the real dipstick and insert a long heating element into the oilpan, this would keep the oil warm all night, making for an easier start.
