      I just had one on my shoulder - the surgeon scoped the shoulder with an instrument and cut some bone away decompression and repaired the tear in the rotational cuff. I am not sure what instrument she used I will ask her - as missactive says ist is usually the joints of the body which are scoped.

        Looking into the joints of the body knee shoulder etc.using an Arthroscope which is a type of Endoscope.
