1 Answer
y = sqrt [x - 5]
Squaring
y^2 = x - 5
y^2 + 5 = x
x = y^2 + 5
Replacing y by x on right side
Inverse function: x^2 + 5
...........
For the domain of sqrt [x - 5], it has to be x > = 5, because if x < 5, the function would become negative and u can not take square root of a negative term. So, domain of f(x) is x > = 5.
The domain of the function = range of the inverse.
So, range of the inverse is Range > = 5.
...............
Range of the function is that it is > = 0. (This is the domain of the inverse also) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100325220106AAWLdP1
