Venus was the Roman goddess of love. She was one of the 12 gods and goddesses, the others being: Jupiter, Juno, Neptune, Pluto, Vesta, Minerva, Diana, Apollo, Vulcan, Mars, and Mercury.
She is one of the 12 Olympian Gods/Goddesses. In Greek polytheism, each of these Roman gods and goddesses has an equivalent.

Only one God in my view Bob..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<..
Terry, these are mythological as far as I'm concerned. The "facts of the myth" are what they are. Minerva was born out of her father's head, he having swallowed her mother for fear she'd have a son who would overthrow him.
Seriously, our concept of God has no role in these myths. You can't be "Randy"/"Headless Man" about this stuff.

Romans believe Saturn castrated his father, Uranus, and threw the severed genitals into the ocean, where the surf mixed with blood and the goddess, Venus, formed from the combination. .
