    What does this mean: "a tendency in some speicies towards succulence"?

    A succulent plant or succulent is a plant with fleshy and turgid water-storing tissues such as stems, leaves or roots, capable of retaining large amounts of moisture (usually a drought survival strategy).  Tendency in this case means the inclination of a certain species of plants that leans towards succulence or retaining of water or moisture within the stems, etc.
