Coy is a little more than shy, I think. It is a bit of an act, where, usually, a girl will offer a flirtatious smile and a shrug of her shoulders. She may pretend that she doesn't know wha's going on in a situation, but if you really look at her, there are telltale signs that she is just being coy.....pretending not to know or be aware of as much as one DOES know and IS aware of.
