Gross is the big number-- net is the little number after all expenses are removed.

    example:

    $10.00 is the gross

$6.00 is the expenses of advertaising, commissions, etc

    $4.00 is the net..

Same on a pay check, your gross pay--then deductions, you are left with 'net pay'
