      A web/browsing cookie is usually is a small data that is sent to a website's user's computer from that website, and is stored in that user's browser while he is browsing that website.

        Just kidding. The original purpose of cookies is to allow users that visit sites repeatedly to be identified as such, and not to have to subscribe to sites they visit often more than once.
