Many factors of the environment cause an organism to behave as it does.  Ex. a plant grows toward light (as the cells on the shaded side grow faster, bending it to the light).  A dog reacts to a sound in the night by barking, or howling, if of certain breeds.  So behavior is then the reactions to stimuli in the environment, and the same stimuli may cause different behaviors in different organisms.  So things like light, temperature, taste, feel, sounds, sights, etc. can be the source of the stimuli causing the behaviors.

    Simply put, environment...........
