Let us assume, the length of the pool be "y" m

So, the width of the pool  = half the length of the pool +2 = y/2 +2 = [y+4]/2

Here, perimeter of the pool = 97 m

But the perimeter of the pool, by formula = 2( l +b )

    Then, our equation becomes

    2(l+b) = 97

Putting the value of length and width of the pool, we have

    2 (3y +4)/ 2 = 97

    i.e. 3y + 4 = 97

    i.e 3y = 97 - 4 = 93

    So, y = 93/3 = 31

Hence, the length of the pool = 31 m

    and breadth of the pool = 31/2 + 2 = 17.5 m

Hope this has helped you to some extent.
