It is an interesting question & I am glad that you have asked it.

Let us see some basic properties of this two figures.

    Square:

    1. All sides are equal

    2. All the interior angles is equal to 90 degree.

    Rhombus:

    1. All sides are equal

    2. None of the interior angle is equal to 90 degree,

So, from above we can say that  "Square" is not a "Rhombus"

but Square is the special case of Rhombus where the interior angles equal to 90 degree each.

Hope this will remove the confusion over square & rhombus & other related figures.

Only in square dancing I would have thought.

Clear as mud. Zenius. You have to be a politician due to your ability to say nothing of consequence but use a lot of words in doing so.

A square is a square; a rhombus is a rhombus.
