      My dad did this and I thought it was mean but, it might work: leave the leash on our dog and let him get used to running around with it on...

        How old is your dog ? Im just woundering, if you got dog from shelter, and if it was ill treated, by been slapped with a leash, this could be a reason, why . Just guessing.
