because it's based on 10 s . therefore, it's easier. There's been a movement for years to convert the U.S. to the metric system, but farmers and industry don't want it ....b/c they say then they'd have to recalibrate all their tools. It is being taught though , in the public schools. The medical proffesion has used it since the dawn of the age.
