Both can be good pets,i think a dog has a lot more to offer as you can go for walks, teach him tricks, he will play with you at any given time.As for a cat they have their advantages too,they will keep themselves groomed use a kitty tray.They tend to put the commands on thier owners though,they make sure thier needs are met, god love em.

Our cat, comes for walk with my husband or I,if we going to a quiet area, some times she will walk in front,for short time, then she will sit down and wait , (wounder what she thinking then lol)
