    The myth is that as a person gets older, their bones and muscles get more brittle, so they should not be used as rigorously. But the opposite appears true: The less you use your body, the more unresponsive it will be, regardless of age. Exercise increases bone density, making it less likely you will break a hip, not more likely. As with any exercise program, you should get medical clearance beforehand. If your doctor has no concerns, there is no reason that any person at any age cannot begin a fitness routine
