    how are chicken pocks and shingles related?

    Yes Shingles and Chicken are caused by the same virus...an cute painful inflammation of the nerve gangglia, with a skin eruption often forming a girdle around the middle of the body

    Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox and can be spread to people who have not had chickenpox.  Advisable to get shot against shingles.  I was told by a CVS mini clinic nurse the other day that the shot cost $270.  It is however covered by most insurance companies.

    Shingles are the pox manefested adult style.  Not fun.

    The same virus causes both. It is unknown why the virus remains dormant in the body and then causes shingles later in life. Not everyone who had chicken  pox gets shingles. 

    Shingles are a byproduct of chicken pox, can't have one w/o the other...
