There are different types of counselors. An ACADEMIC counselor is going to assist you in planning your courses.....when to take what kind of English, for example. When you have trouble with your schedule or a class, you go to the counselor to help you with the education aspects of your education.
A school counselor can also be someone you go to with personal and/or emotional issues. It is someone you feel comfortable talking to, whose advice you respect.
