    how can OCD be treated?

It can be treated, if the person admits there is something wrong. It never really goes away though. They get worse with stress and they do a lot more things than just count. It tends to run in families. The person having the problem doesn't see it as a problem. To them it's natural, but it is a problem for those who live with them. For them it is very stressful.

It is a drive, based on irrational anxiety. (So is Love for that matter)  Like any other 'way' of being a human being, OCD confers partial benefits as well as deficits. Only when it interferes with your daily living is it a 'problem' to be 'cured'. Extreme OCD can be debilitating on the person who is compelled to rituals, but in a mild form it often confers a cautious outlook that seeks out problems, even if the solving may be difficult for that person but within the purview of another skillled person. With a mild condition it may well dispose a person well to detailed, exact, accurate work.
