    Top 5 LIVING guitar players?

    I am not looking to start a battle with anyone! Just a friendly question,I believe I haven't seen this one yet( the rock music Genre ).Thank you friends!Oh...my votes are Alex Lifeson,David Gilmour,Eddie Van Halen,Tom Scholz and The Edge.

      Great question but the answer is in the style, it really depends on what style you like.. i am  more into jazz players and based on your name "metal' you probably never heard of them.. Joe Pass, Tony Matolla, Al Ciaola and many more--  I like George Benson too, also BB King for the blues-- I would need to categorize them..

        Yeah! There's a ton of great guitarists out there, and we didn't even discuss country like Chet Adkins.. I think all my favorites are dead now.. I will say this also, some of the finest guitarists are ones that never made it, I have worked with a few of those that have blown me away! And never heard from again.

        Another sorely underrated country guitar player is Roy Clark!

        Yeah, Roy Clark last time I heard of him he was very very sick-- he is a master of many instruments.. There are so many good players out there its difficult to say wish is the best in any style. As a professional musician, I never compared which is better in my field of playing, only which one had something I wanted to steal from them LOL They all have something different that sets them aside of each other. Some fantastic players can not do the 'riffs' of other fantastic players.. Case in point, BB King plays a simple 12 bar blues with his famous vibrato at the end of his 4/4 measure.. The precision of this vibrato as simple as it may seem it is very difficult for many seasoned players to duplicate.. I have heard very few that could mimic this famous BB King signature. And! His guitar expertise doesn't go beyond [major-minor and 7th] chords with an occasional [9th]..
