Tiny poetry books need no editor, you can keep them very short, and do your own art work. While you're waiting to get rich, you can go to coffee houses and bookstores to do readings. That will get your name "out there"
If you self publish you don't need an editor -- just a few willing friends with time on their hands.
My writing teacher finally got his novel published. He was more than happy. He was setting up his readings and his books had been delivered.
And then ... then ... oh boo hoo, the publisher went out of business.
He didn't make a cent. Book writing is a serious business. I don't even want to keep a journal!

actually It will cost $3,000 to edit, then maybe a few more $ for page/something design, then it goes to another place that cost at least a 1,000 more. After that I find an agent, he takes it to a publisher. Then I might get rejected. I had no idea what I started. I do plan to proceed. I am researching other writers see how they got started.I don't see a welfare mom who wrote Harry Potter paying these fees. There has to be some short cuts. Business has always been boring to me.Now it seems, I have to do what I hate,to do what I love. I don't want to self publish. I don't know what I'm doing, I'll just screw it up worse.
I'm good at research, I'll find something.
Thanks itsmee, I love that name! Are you going to self publish?
