      It was several weeks ago when we had power outage for about 18 hours.

        The summer solstice is the longest day of the year (most daylight).  On that day, and on the day of the winter solstice (shortest period of daylight) you can take a raw egg and stand it up on its bottom.  It requires a steady hand, but it can be done.  Leave it alone and it will stand for a couple of days.
