He might have found something better, how well do you know him, you should be able to ask, if not if must been a dull 5 years.

If you don't know, and it seems you don't, ask him. He could be worried about something at work... his health... Give him the chance to explain, but make it clear you won't stand for it. Work problems stay at work. Health problems... he sees a doctor. If he's taking you for granted and telling him how you view it doesn't stop him it's time to pack your bags. If you are too scared to say any of this, quietly and calmly, you should have packed your bags yesterday. Don't stay with a man who treats you rudely and criticises, whatever his excuse, if he frightens you.

probally total selfishness if after 5 years he''s not content with you , to me he will be never happy with any women. if it was somthing totaly unexpected than he is not happy with himself, 5 years together just dosen't walk out the door , maybe you should consider other issues: maybe he's does drugs, sorry to say maybe its another women, but that wouldn't explain his rudeness
