Carpender ants are not good!They can do serious structural damage if not dealt with swiftly.I would hire an exterminator to deal with the ants and ask them what he/she thinks is the cause.It is not uncommon for a nest to be attracted to rotten wood from water damage.Then you will have to find a contractor you trust to fix that issue. This may not be an inexpensive endeavour to fix.Best of luck to you!!
