      It must be noted that children should only be provided with the proper RDA for retinol to avoid complications. If it is possible, children should only obtain retinol from food sources and no longer need to take vitamin A supplements unless they have deficiency of it since excessive amount of retinol is toxic for children.           If children are fed a well balanced diet  ( how many are?) vitamin supplements are not necessary and in the case of vitamins A,D,E and K overdose can be toxic.
