    Things You'll Need
    Screwdriver set
    Wood block
    Needle-nose pliers

    Instructions
    1
Unplug the Maytag's power cord from the electrical outlet. Always remove the power source from the appliance before you attempt to service it. Remove the detergent dispenser from the top of the machine with a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws. Remove the four screws that hold the door on the frame with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    2
Insert a flat head screwdriver into the seam between the front panel and main body of the washing machine. Pry the front panel away from the frame and pull it off. Remove the top retaining screws with a Phillips head screwdriver. Raise the top up and away from the frame. Prop the top with a wood block to expose the door latch and motor.

    3
Grab the hook on the gasket clamp spring with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Pull the spring toward the loop to disengage it from the loop. Disconnect the retaining clips from the perimeter of the shroud to remove the gasket from the machine. You can remove these clips by hand. Remove and discard the old gasket.

    4
Place a new gasket on the machine and press it firmly into place. Install the clips around the perimeter of the gasket to lock it into place. Install the gasket retaining spring. Insert the hook through the wire loop with the needle-nose pliers to lock the spring into place.

    5
Lower the top of the machine and install the retaining screws with the Phillips head screwdriver. Put the front panel on the Maytag Neptune's frame and push on it firmly to lock the retaining clips into place. Install the door on the washing machine and tighten the four retaining screws with the Phillips head screwdriver.

    6
Install the detergent dispenser on the top of the machine and tighten the retaining screws with the Phillips head screwdriver. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet. Turn the machine on and run it for a short cycle. Check the door area for leaks.
