    What can I do to avoid being bitten other than Off and MUskol etc.

      Perfume & after shave can attract them to some people.

          "Squitos" don't bite me but they eat my housemate up alive. They didn't bite my mother either.Wish I could tell you why but, I'm not complaining...

            mosquitoes are also attracted people whom talk a lot , maybe your friend should speak up a bit more..
