Apparently baking soda can kill crabgrass

The first step to kill crabgrass in St. Augustine lawns is to prevent it. This can be done with Scotts Crabgrass Preventer. If crabgrass still makes its way to your lawn you can use a mixture of baking soda, cinnamon and water to kill it. This kills the crabgrass, but doesn't harm the rest of the yard.
