    can a person on ss disability work at all for wages without losing benefits?

    There is a set limit that you can earn by working when on ss. You have to check with ss for that amount.

    Why work, aren't you being paid because you "cannot work" ?

    …..and all this time I thought it was the “job bank”, where people are paid not to work. If  I go to work my effective tax rate jumps to 50% of my earnings which makes ssi recipients the highest tax bracket in the USA. Considering my work history, I can see why I would be paid not to work. In 1970 my job was to destroy the AT&T monopoly….which I did quite well... to a point. I wasn’t willing to be shot in order to pin jail time onto the CEO of AT&T(M) to prove a point for “Dangerous”. Congress sorted it all out years ago and I’ve been left to rot in California. So I make compost and chicken feed…it’s a living and I figure I’m a national embarrassment instead of a hero. Fine by me. Shoved it all up where the sun don’t shine.
