I don't use a desktop anymore but I always build my own.. I just took the cover off, took it to the driveway and put the weed blower to it, dust would fly like crazy, afterr about 30 seconds with the weed blower, it was spotless and ran much cooler..  I'm serious!!  

If you are afraid of my 'aggressive' approach, get a can of compressed air with the straw wand, shoot the air into the power supply fan in the back.. Lots of dustbunnies collect there.. I would still take the cover off and shoot the CPU fan too.. Don't worry, you not gunna hurt anything. Just don't put anything wet inside like household cleaners..  don't forget to unplug it before taking the case cover off..l
