It has been debated over years about whether a sting ray is considered a vertebrate or invertebrate organism. We actually studied this in my science class. Myself and these two other girls said it was invertebrate against the whole class, even the teacher! We did research and it was proven that unlike other fish stingrays and sharks don't even have bones. They have cartilage in which the human ear and eye is made out of. This proves the sting ray is invertebrate. It does not have a backbone. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_a_stingray_invertebrate_or_vertebrate
