Why do you substitute Christians with Republicans? Are you suggesting that ALL Republicans are Creationist-believing Christians and ALL Democrats are not? That would mean that: Democrats,led by Bible-believing Obama are ALL hypocrites for selectively cherry-picking from the Good Book.

Apparently 42% of Americans are believers in a creation that happened about 6,000 years ago and most of these are Republicans. All Muslims are required to believe in a 6 day creation as that is what is written in the Qu'ran.
As a non-believer myself, I can look on from the sidelines and enjoy their delusions.
