There's a book that says there are 5 "languages" of love.  We each have a way of showing our love for another and a way that we perceive we are loved by another.

You may be one who loves to have someone take care of you (Acts of Service), but also require a good deal of Quality time from someone.  If your Acts of Service guy isn't much for Quality Time, you seek someone who gives you the time you want (often called being 'high maintenance').   

 You have a way of showing love, too.  Which one of those most closely fits the way you most often show your affection for your loved one?  Kind words don't make much of an impression on someone who feels giving him/her gifts is how love is shown.
