Chipmunks can actually be dangerous in regards to wiring in a house. When and if all else fails, you can simply get a couple rat traps and set them with peanut butter as bait...within a week's time the problem is permanently solved if you maintain the traps.

This isn't the touchy-feely approach, but I've seen where over 75 of them infestated and overran a property, so I look at them with the understanding that they can be a very serious menace for some homeowners. When the safety of a family being protected from a possible electrical fire because of them is at stake...I simply opt for elimination of the problem in the quickest and most effient manner possible.

They weren't a big problem when my cat was still alive, but they have moved onto the property. I agree they can cause serious damage including burning your house down.
