I've always liked coloring. It's very mindless. :)

But good luck to ya mate.I have never seen your Texan but I think you scored yourself a bonney wee lassie there.

Well now I'm just sitting here outdoors at the acer sucking back a gutbomb after building a smudge fire to chase away the beautiful Black Bear that showed up and treed himself here in his/my backyard on the creek....

This is one we photographed in mid-June this year roadside...hello!

This is amazing! Right outside your door. I love chance encounters like this. A couple weeks ago, my son and I were out in the garage when something flew out of the neighbor's tree and landed on the ground. It was a small bat! I've never seen one up close; it was an awesome experience. But YOU, with a BEAR in your back yard. WOW.
He/She was gorgeous but I discourage Bears from interactions with humans quickly...my landlord was freaked at how quickly I smash a fire together and at how fast that bear split when smoke filled the air...he ran from tree to tree but I kept whooping and clapping but resorted to cowboy whistles to completely freak it out so it ran up the creek...which is a good thing...but I just heard the bear bells going across the creek where a small grove of apple trees is! eeeeeeeee!
He's across the creek causing the dogs to bark like crazy!Yep...they're sounding off !
....hmm...maybe I should go in?...Nawwww! LOL

Lindilou, My 19 year old son moved to North Carolina in June to live with his grandfather (dad's father). He sent me this video earlier this week. My son is the one shooting the video.

The neighbor called 10 minutes later to let them know the bear was climbing back up the pole to get to the bird feeder on the porch again.

CB: What on earth does a little bear want with birdseed! :D Did I see a second bear down on the "road"? They look so little, but I know they're very strong even as cubs, and their toenails are very long. What a beautiful back yard. Living in a paradise, don't ya know.
Thanks for sharing the video. I loved it!

Hey there, Bob. Apparently the bear shows up everyday. He took off with an expensive bird feeder so they only place cheap ones out on the porch now. I skyped with my son tonight and asked him about the other bear. He said it's a stump with salt lick and not another bear.
He seems to be happy living the Carolina mountains with his Gdad. He getting spoiled rotten--apparently money really does grows on trees there. (*~*)

They sounded like they were enjoying each other. Probably good company for G-Dad, and a great opportunity for your son. I'd love to live in a beautiful setting like that.
Are you missing "home" at all? Do you think your son will visit you in Scotland sometime?

He's loving it there and I can see why. I think his Grandfather is enjoying the company because his wife died of cancer 4 years ago.
I miss my son, my grandfather, my dogs and Mexican food. Skype is an awesome invention because I can talk to the people whom I love.
As for as missing the USA, not really. I've been wanting to live in the UK since I was 9. I told my mother and my grandparents that I will live here one day. Go figure! (*~*)
The people here do not look at you and smile and say hello such as they do in the USA. The majority of them look at the ground as I'm passing by. I love to smile, wave and say hello to people so this is taking me some getting used to, but other than this, I adore this place.

That's a little odd, but Southerners are among the friendliest people you'll find, so it must be a little culture shock.
It's really amazing that you knew at 9 you'd live in the UK some day. Still so happy for you both, but especially you! (no offense, Roy)

LOL. He's in bed so he won't see it. I'm heading that way myself because it's almost 3 am. Enjoy your Sunday evening.
