Instructions
1
Archive electronic copies of your documents with a free copy of eDocXL Lite. eDocXL Lite features integrated database utilities for sorting your scanned documents. You can quickly locate your archived documents using the program's thumbnail view. eDocXL Lite also supports importing documents from sources other than your scanner, meaning you can organize all of your documents with one program regardless of the source.
2
Download a free copy of CodeProject's Scan2PDF to archive your documents. Scan2PDF allows you to scan your documents and store them in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). After you have scanned all your documents, the program's integrated CD burning tool lets you store all of your documents to compact disks.
3
Scan and store your documents for free using Windows Live Photo Gallery. Part of the Windows Essentials pack, the Live Photo Gallery lets you upload scans to websites, email them, or burn them to a CD or DVD. The utility's photo editing tools can help you adjust the light level of your scanned documents or crop them. After you have electronically archived a large number of documents, use Live Photo Gallery's file tree to navigate your document archive.
