    Not really. It's monthly income from Social Security for people who are disabled or otherwise unable to work and they haven't worked or not worked long enough to earn Social Security Disability. It is different from welfare in that it helps those who are unable to work for any given reason--it's not for people who aren't working but potentially can.


    The Social Security office can give you a more detailed definition.
