      Parents are and should be responsible for their children's regular attendance at school. Arrested for non-compliance? Sounds a little silly to me. It is the children who need to be disciplined for skipping school, so they are taught to take responsibility for their own actions!

        Do they still have "truant officers"?  They did when I was young, but have not heard of any for years..
