too me they are  two words with same meaning dead is dead

I believe a politician,President down to city mayor and council-- dictator or other high public official, King/Queen, Royal Family members- any member of parliament  is assassinated.. Good or evil, he/she is a politician..  Police officers are not assassinated even though they are public servants, they are murdered..  Even the Chief is a murder victim..

I think this is a very interesting question. I would guess that a leader of  a country is "assasinated."

and then, a regular person would be "murdered" I don't know for sure. 

the wording would make a huge amount of difference if your uncle was "assasinated." 

i hope someone comes along who has an answer for us. 

interesting question,and i dont know the answer either!!!!is assasination when it relates to a statesman or politician?or someone in the public eye?itll be interesting to see what other people say,im curious now....
