    Not in the UK, it's seen as prejudicial.

    Depends upon the venue. If jurors are not not allowed to be told, and are, the decision could be tainted and their disclosure might be grounds for a mistrial,

    Prior conviction records of relevant, similar crimes usually bring harsher penalties for repeat offenders.  

    Hopefully, if the system is not broken!
